Wine Tasting – Gran Cru: wine lovers amidst the Chianti hills

F31An exclusive and in-depth tour to discover the oldest winery in Italy. You will meet your guide at the wine shop and start the tour of the estate in a private car.

The tour begins at the ancient Brolio Castle which bears witness to the long and fascinating history of the Ricasoli family. The Ricasoli barons have made influential contributions to both the political history of Italy and to the development of the legendary  wine of the area – Chianti Classico.

You will then visit the famous Cru vineyards, which have the most important vines in the estate. You will learn about the rich soils, climate conditions, Sangiovese grape selection and other factors that go into making the fine wines of Brolio.

You will be shown round he state-of-the-art vinification  facility, which is ideal for the production of excellent wines, and the underground “barriccaia”, located in the adjacent wine cellar, where the wines are aged in oak barrels.

You will then be ready for tasting an exclusive selection of the finest wines. The tour concludes with lunch at the castle’s restaurant, Osteria del Castello. Chef Franco Sangiacomo will help you discover authentic Tuscan cuisine in a beautiful and relaxing environment.
